Prayer for the week: A Prayer for Epiphany
Creator of the heavens,
who led the Magi by a star
to worship the Christ-child:
guide and sustain us,
that we may find out journey’s end
in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
Prayer for the week: A Prayer for the New Year
God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
whose years never fail
and whose mercies are new each returning day:
let the radiance of your Spirit renew our lives,
warming our hearts and giving light to our minds;
that we may pass the coming year
in joyful obedience and firm faith;
through him who is the beginning and the end,
your Son, Christ our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen
Prayer for the week:
Eternal God,
as Mary waited for the birth of your Son,
so we wait for his coming in glory;
bring us through the birth pangs of this present age
to see, with her, our great salvation
in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Prayer for the week
Kindle in our hearts, O God,
the flame of that love which never ceases,
that it may burn in us giving light to others.
May we shine forever in your temple,
set on fire with your eternal light. Amen.
Prayer for the week: from Remembering Srebrenica on the 26th anniversary of the murder of 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys
O God of truth and justice,
we remember today the consequences of hatred in lives brutally extinguished
in hearts torn apart, in memories scarred with pain.
As we remember and honour the victims of hatred,
lead us to sorrow over the sins of humanity.
Draw close, we pray,
to mothers and sisters, wives and grandmothers
and all relatives and loved ones left behind, and heal the pain in their souls.
And teach us, O Lord,
to learn how to live for a world
where differences are respected and valued, and where fear and mistrust
can never overwhelm us
nor vengeance be stirred in our hearts.
Give peace we pray, to the people of Srebrenica; that their lives may be restored
through your grace.
Amen
